Background
I received my bachelor's and master's degrees in Physics from the niversity of Calcutta and my doctoral degree from the Indian Statistical Institute (official degree granted by the University of Calcutta). From 1997 to 2000, I had a postdoctoral position at Northwestern University in Illinois. During the first year at Northwestern, I had a joint postdoctoral position at Caltech in Pasadena (Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory (LIGO)) and, for the following two years, at The Pennsylvania State University. I spent 2000 to 2003 initially as a postdoc and later as a faculty-equivalent scientist at the Max-Planck-Institute für Gravitationsphysik in Golm, Germany. I came to The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College (UTB/TSC) in the fall of 2003.
