Background
I originally studied in Argentina where I first obtained a degree in administration, but then I decided to go into the sciences. I received a Master's of Science in observational astronomy (on binary stars) and a PhD in relativistic astrophysics (on accretion disks and neutron stars) at the University of La Plata. I then moved to the University of Buenos Aires where I got a second PhD, this time in Physics, based on my research work at the Observatory of Paris (on quantum field theory in gravitational pp-waves). I held an Alexander von Humboldt fellowship (in Germany); I was a postdoctoral researcher in Barcelona, Spain; and at the University of Utah, I was a guest scientist at the Max-Planck-Institut in Golm, Germany. I also held a permanent position as researcher at the Institute of Astronomy and Space Physics in Buenos Aires. Currently, I am Associate Professor and co-founder of the Center for Gravitational Wave Astronomy at The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College.
